Erasmus+

About the programme

Erasmus+ is an educational programme of the European Union that supports cooperation and mobility in all areas of education, vocational training, sport, and youth. It is the successor to the Lifelong Learning Programme, the Youth in Action programme, and others. The Erasmus programme was established in 1987 and has been operating in the Czech Republic since 1998. UJEP has been involved in the programme since 1999.

Types of mobilities and current calls

The condition for the implementation of UJEP student and staff mobility in the Erasmus+ programme is the existence of a mobility project in higher education, which specifies the type of mobility that can be implemented, the faculties for which it is intended, etc. The conditions are set out in the relevant call for applications.

Current calls

  • The next regular selection procedure for student mobility will take place in October 2025.

Types of mobility for students

  • study stays
    • study at a foreign higher education institution
    • conditional on the existence of an inter-institutional agreement with a foreign partner school
  • trainship mobility
    • work placement in a foreign company or organisation
    • conditional on the existence of an inter-institutional agreement only in the case of international mobility where the host institution is a higher education institution

The Erasmus+ 2021-2027 programme also allows for short-term mobility for doctoral students and postdoctoral researchers or combined mobility consisting of a physical and a virtual part (so-called blended mobility). Students who are unable to participate in long-term mobility can participate in short-term combined mobility. Entitlement to a grant arises only for the period of physical mobility. Students can also participate in combined intensive programmes. For more information, see the basic guidelines for each type of trip below.

Types of mobility for staff

  • teaching stays
    • teaching at a foreign higher education institution
    • conditional on the existence of an inter-institutional agreement with a foreign partner school
  • trainees
    • trainee programmes at a foreign higher education institution or a foreign organisation related to the field of education realised at UJEP
    • conditional on the existence of an inter-institutional agreement only in the case of international mobility where the host institution is a higher education institution

Blended Intensive Programme

Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) enables international mobility through a combination of physical and virtual activities. Its aim is to create joint educational events for groups of students and university staff within international networks.

Definition of the programme on the EU website: https://wikis.ec.europa.eu/display/NAITDOC/Blended+Intensive+Programmes

Specific conditions:

(a) the programme involves cooperation between at least 3 higher education institutions from 3 different Erasmus+ programme countries,

(b) the programme includes a combination of physical mobility lasting 5 to 30 days and a virtual mobility component of optional duration,

(c) the minimum number of foreign participants is 10-20 (depending on the project support provided). Participants may be students at all levels of study, academic and administrative staff,

(d) cooperation is based on a valid inter-institutional agreement.

The university participates in the preparation and implementation of the programme as a coordinator (main organiser) or as a participant. The costs of organising the programme are covered by the coordinator from the funds provided by the relevant Erasmus+ call. The costs of incoming participants are covered by the sending organisation.

UJEP as programme coordinator:

The application for grant support is submitted by the OVV as part of a comprehensive application in the given call at the beginning of the calendar year. Those interested in preparing and implementing the programme in the upcoming grant period should express their interest in response to a call from the Department of External Relations (). When evaluating proposals, emphasis is placed on programmes that are interdisciplinary (or inter-faculty) in nature, develop strategic areas of creative activity and education, and develop existing cooperation with foreign universities.

UJEP as a programme participant:

The participation of students and staff in programmes at other universities is financed by UJEP and depends on the amount of funds available in a given year. Information about those interested in participating in the programme (UJEP as the sending organisation) is collected by the External Relations Department on the basis of a call for applications.
