Equal Opportunities and Safety

The term “equal opportunities” means that everyone has the same chance to succeed regardless of gender, race, ethnic origin, religion, sexual orientation, physical or mental abilities, social background, or any other characteristic. Equal opportunities apply to access to education, employment, healthcare, housing, and other areas of life. The aim is to eliminate discrimination and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their potential and achieve their goals without facing barriers based on unjustified differences.

This includes ensuring equal access to information, resources and opportunities, as well as promoting diversity and inclusion in the educational environment. At universities, equal opportunities also involve eliminating discrimination and providing support to students and employees with different needs so that they can fulfil their potential.

An important part of creating a safe and non-discriminatory university environment is establishing policies and procedures for addressing complaints and conflicts, as well as providing education and training aimed at promoting inclusion and diversity.

The priority of UJEP’s security policy is to ensure the physical safety of all students and staff at the university. Security risks may include not only physical assault, but also verbal aggression or harassment through electronic communication containing threatening messages. Recommendations for dealing with specific situations are summarised in the guidelines below.

The Information and Cybersecurity Department ensures that UJEP fulfils its obligations arising from the Cybersecurity Act and its implementing regulations. Details concerning the activities of the Information and Cybersecurity Department are set out in the relevant Rector’s Directive, which serves as the overarching policy for the Information Security Management System (ISMS).

The department currently consists of members of the Cybersecurity Team, whose main responsibility is to carry out activities arising from the ISMS.

The Information and Cybersecurity Department is headed by the Cybersecurity Manager. Its activities are methodologically supervised by the UJEP Cybersecurity Committee, which also serves as an advisory body to the Rector on cybersecurity matters.

As part of its broader security policy, UJEP also seeks to ensure the physical safety of the entire academic community, as well as visitors attending events organised by the university. This includes, in particular, ensuring physical safety on campus and during educational, research and public outreach activities organised by the university, such as excursions, open days and similar events.
