    The EIB, the European Union’s bank, in the framework of its GRAD programme, is seeking to recruit for its Portfolio Management and Monitoring Directorate (PMM) – Joint Middle Office, Post-disbursement Events Processing unit for the IBOR transition project at its headquarters in Luxembourg, a Graduate. This is a full time position.

    The term of this contract will be 2 years.

    Panel interviews are anticipated for July.

    Purpose

    Under the supervision of the Head of Unit and the coordination team of the project, you will provide middle office support to the client-facing officers primarily on Libor transition for legacy loan portfolio (market benchmark reform to move from the current Libor rates to new Risk Free Rates.

    You will report to the Head of Unit and the coordinators of the dedicated project team and work in close co-operation with other senior members of the Division and Directorate, including client-facing officers.

    Accountabilities

    • Ensure the smooth execution of the IBOR transition for the part of the legacy contract list assigned:
      • Contribute to the drafting of term sheets  and the design of detailed product characteristics (led by OPS) based on client feedback/market intelligence; review of templates of contractual documents
      • Provide support to Client Facing Officers in communication with clients, in collaboration with the Joint Middle Office Libor project team members as well as colleagues from the Finance and Legal Directorates; support/advise especially on technical aspects such as market conventions, floors, simulation of rates etc.
      • Submit the contractual set of data in the Replacement Tool to allow the booking of the transactions in the back office systems upon JU signature notification of the contractual amendments.
    • Participate to the organisation of the Joint Middle Office Libor project team:
      • Participate to and contribute to preparation of regular meetings and Libor workshops to: (i) share information and experience; (ii) provide updates on the transition status for the part of the portfolio assigned to you; (iii) address (legal, financial, procedural) bottlenecks.
    • Other operational responsibilities
      • Ensure processing of other post-disbursement events (prepayments, restructuring, margin updates etc.), as and when required, with a view to optimizing capacity use depending on needs and peaks of various activities.

    Qualifications

    • University degree in a business/finance/economics related field.
    • A maximum of 2 years of experience after your most recent graduation.
    • Knowledge of the EIB’s mission, policies and activities.
    • Some experience and/or knowledge of the specific areas of accountability of the role (and Libor transition in particular) would be preferred
    • Sound knowledge of standard MS Office Suite, in particular Excel and PowerPoint. More proficient knowledge of Excel (macros) and/or programming and/or business analytics tools would be an advantage.
    • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and strong drafting skills; good command of French (*). Good command of Spanish would be an advantage.

    (*) There may be certain flexibility on this requirement, but limited to particularly suitable candidates who may not yet be proficient in French.
